Named the International University of the Year for 2020 in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide, having previously been the University of the Year for 2018, Lancaster University continues to go from strength to strength. Our strategy is to become a university that is globally significant – a leader in higher education that provides the highest quality research and teaching, and engages locally and internationally on the issues and debates of the day and our future.

Established in 1961, Lancaster University is based just outside the beautiful city of Lancaster, with about 12,000 full-time students and over 3,000 staff. The University has developed with partnerships, both in the UK with University Academy 92 and in 24 countries worldwide, including Sunway University in Malaysia and Beijing Jiaotong University in China. The latest international development is in Mainland Europe, in Leipzig, Germany, which is due to open later in 2019.

Lancaster is a welcoming and truly international University, with staff and students from over 75 countries from across the globe. Areas of natural beauty are all around, with the Fylde Coast to the West, Lake District to the North, as well as the North Yorkshire Moors and Trough of Bowland to the East. Head South and you are only an hour from Manchester or just over two hours from London, by train.
