Job description
We are looking for an organised and enthusiastic Quality Assurance and International Research Degrees Partnerships Manager to join King’s Centre for Doctoral Studies - a busy unit supporting King’s 3800 postgraduate researchers to fulfil their potential.
This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in administration in higher education. The ideal candidate will have awareness and understanding of issues relating to quality assurance and regulatory compliance, with associated skills and expertise.
You will have a collaborative, team-focused outlook, with experience of providing strong administrative support to projects, and will be able to manage a high volume of work, taking a methodical and conscientious approach.
You will have excellent interpersonal skills, taking a facilitative approach to addressing enquiries, developing professional working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

We work on a hybrid basis, combining remote working with regular in-person contact at our Lavington Street offices. The post is available on a full-time basis, but applicants are welcome to propose flexible working arrangements, and reduced hours on a pro-rata basis will be considered.
This post will be offered on an a fixed term contract for 2 years
This is a full-time post however we would also consider 80% full time equivalent

Key responsibilities
Quality Assurance
• Responsible for the administration of the quality assurance processes relating to programme approval and modifications ensuring that they are carried out in accordance with university procedures
• Responsible for regulatory and procedural advice, as well as external regulatory compliance guidance, to academic and professional services colleagues across the college.
• Assist the Associate Director (Doctoral Policy & Operations) with the annual review of the Research Degrees regulations
• Monitor the Faculty Annual Reports and lead on the administration of the review process
• Develop quality assurance regulations, policies and procedures for the university to enhance PGR student experience
• Act as secretary to the Postgraduate Research Students Subcommittee and plan the annual schedule of activity.
• Represent the Centre for Doctoral Studies (Policy and Operations team) at appropriate meetings with other departments within King’s, with external partners (relating to joint PhDs) and deputise for the Associate Director (Doctoral Policy & Operations) where appropriate
Joint PhD Provision and International Partnerships
• Oversee all quality assurance elements relating to joint PhD programmes in collaboration with the Quality, Standards and Enhancement and Global Engagement teams
• Have ownership of the joint PhD Schedules of Activity and lead on drafting Schedules for new programmes and making amendments to existing Schedules
• Be the administrative lead on correspondence and communication within King's College London and with relevant departments in the partner institutions
• Support and coordinate the preparation for new joint PhD partnerships, including being the first point of contact for academics and departments/faculties
• Provide high level specialist support to the Joint Academic Committees and the Director of Research Talent and prepare annual reports for the partnerships
• Monitor and manage student applications to joint PhDs, including liaising with the partner institutions about acceptance of candidates
• Be the first point of contact for students on joint PhD programmes; provide support and monitor progression, including timely raising of issues to the relevant parties
• Provide expertise and support for joint PhD development and other collaborative provision
• Proactively review and make recommendations for the agreed and new Memorandum of Agreements (MOAs) and Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs) to ensure they are updated and reviewed in time for student recruitment.

Skills, knowledge, and experience
Essential criteria
• Relevant work experience and/or education: We think a wide range of different work and educational experiences could support you to be successful in this role.
• Relevant work experience might include work in higher education administration, working with postgraduate students, or working in support of a compliance framework (especially QAA Quality Code).
• Relevant educational experiences might include higher education in a related discipline, professional qualifications or other training
• Experienced and comfortable using Microsoft Office suite, Teams and SharePoint, with the ability to learn and develop an in-depth knowledge of in-house systems and sector specific software.
• Knowledge of, and interest in, the Quality Assurance Framework for Higher Education
• Demonstrable experience of developing policies and procedures
• Experience of acting as a secretary to a committee, including the ability to take concise and accurate minutes of meetings
• Strong problem solving and data analysis skills, and the ability to report on complex data to a diverse stakeholder audience.
• Ability to use judgement to resolve complex problems
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, for example, managing complex stakeholder groups
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Desirable criteria
• Student Information System experience e.g. SITs
• Experience of working in Higher Education in the UK
• Knowledge of PowerBI
