Associate professor in Culinary arts
Job Description
To contribute to curriculum development in the various disciplines and to teach according to a set syllabus while providing support to KAUFT in pursuit of achieving its academic objectives. To contribute to academic initiatives undertaken by the School to enhance learning while promoting relevant studies in accordance to the needs of the community, and to support and expand programs for tourism and business education to achieve this objective.
Key Performance Areas
- Lecturing to full-time and part time undergraduate students;
- Assessment of students;
- Administration of assessments;
- Monitoring of student progress;
- Setting in place interventions to deal with at risk students;
- Development and recirculation of courses and programs focused on relevant disciplines;
- Collaboration with the business community to improve programs and access learning opportunities for students such as internships; and
- Serve on academic/administrative communities that deal with institutional policies, departmental matters and academic issues.
Competencies
- The ability to work independently;
- Strong track of publication/research;
- Fluent/Native English;
- IT literacy;
- Good interpersonal and general management skills; and
- A proven track record of the following competencies such as people management, stress tolerance, self- motivated, open minded and high-level presentation skills.
Minimum requirements
- PhD in hospitality, tourism and/or travel or related fields;
- Four years working experience in an academic environment;
- Track of publication in relevant field; and
- Hospitality and tourism industry background
