English language Instructor

Position Summary

Language instructors must be qualified to deliver quality English language instruction, and effectively teach and interact with students and be able to provide and promote instructional environments conductive to successful learning. Instructors are responsible for the delivery and evaluation of the English Language component of the KAU Preparatory Year Program (PYP) in order to achieve the ELI Mission while meeting the academic, professional, and cultural standards of the University. The responsibilities of ELI language instructors fall into several categories, including curriculum and lesson planning, classroom management, instruction, student evaluation, academic and professional development, and ELI community service.

Academic Field

• Teaching English as A Foreign Language (TEFL)
• Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)

Responsibilities:

• Teach 18 contact hours per week (40-hour work week in total).
• Adhere to the allocated working hours.
• Show a high degree of language proficiency, flexibility, team work capability, intercultural competence and professionalism.
• Support and participate in curriculum and lesson planning, classroom management, instruction, student evaluation, academic and professional development, and ELI community service.
• Proctor tests.
• Other duties, as assigned.
