Associate Professor / Assistant Professor (PR0110/19-20)

The Department is seeking qualified candidates to fill a tenure-track position in English subject knowledge and English language education. He/She is expected to play the following roles:

(a) Teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in at least one of the following subject areas: (i) Social Foundations of Education, (ii) Philosophical Foundations of Education, (iii) Teacher Self Development, (iv) Chinese Society and Culture, (v) Moral and Civic Education, and (vi) Problem Behaviours in Children & Adolescents;

(b) Conducting cutting-edge academic research in a relevant field;

(c) Supervising postgraduate dissertations and teaching practice in schools; and

(d) Contributing to the administration work of the Department, as appropriate.

Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate competence in conducting research in areas related to the University’s Research Clusters and/or the Faculty Niche Research Areas in Smart Societies (including Environmental & Urban System, Well-being, Populations, and Learning and Praxis). This is a tenure-track appointment. Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of up to three years commencing September 2020. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
