Translation Programme

The Translation Programme invites applications for the post of Research Assistant Professor. The appointee is expected to conduct an independent programme of research and pursue initiatives to secure research funding. He/She will also teach two courses per year in the Translation Programme.

The position is linked to the Arts Faculty’s interdisciplinary research niche of “Wellbeing, Value, and the Public Good”. The Translation Programme is particularly interested in applicants with research interests relating to the sub-themes of Public Culture and Minority Studies. Relevant areas of interest include (i) Translation, cultural production and the public good; (ii) Translation and accessibility (including Audio-description, sign-language interpreting, and healthcare-related translation and interpreting provision); and (iii) Minority languages and cultures in translation.

Applicants should possess a PhD degree in Translation, Interpreting or Intercultural Studies, and should have a promising record of research and publications. In addition, post-doctoral experience, especially in research project applications, will be considered favourably.

Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of two to three years. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to performance review, mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
