This is an exciting opportunity to lead a School at the cutting edge of legal and criminal justice education. As a member of the Faculty Executive Team, the Head of School will support the Executive Dean in ensuring the achievement of the university's strategic objectives. This will include contributing to the formulation and implementation of strategy and policy and supporting the achievement of critical success factors with regards to research, knowledge exchange, student recruitment, experience, success and employability.
The Faculty of Culture and the Creative Industry prides itself on effectively working in partnership with relevant industries and sectors to be the provider of choice for their HE, research and KT needs. By working in a transdisciplinary, way the Faculty aims to drive and support the definition and response to the requirements of industry, business, the community and the public sector.
As Head of School, you will provide academic and operational leadership for the School, having particular regard to delivering a high quality student experience and will be responsible for the operational management of the resources, ensuring the efficient and effective deployment of resources.
Promoting a creative, positive and solution-focussed environment for all School activities, you will support the advancement of teaching, learning and assessment. You will collaborate with other Schools, services and external stakeholders to create opportunities for research, innovation and enterprise. In addition, driving income generation and diversification, you will maximise the School's contribution to the development and achievement of the Faculty's and University's goals.
With a Higher degree/Doctorate or equivalent professional qualification in an appropriate discipline and ideally membership of relevant professional bodies, your leadership experience should include both people and budgetary management, and the co-ordination of resources while working within regulatory processes and governance systems.
You must have the ability to develop and implement strategy, lead and effect change, and inspire others to embrace new ways of working. With an understanding of HE policy, funding and external measures, you should also be able to demonstrate peer credibility through involvement with professional networks and outside bodies.
Candidates must evidence excellent communication and networking skills and a record of successful leadership and management. The ability to create a high performance culture, lead innovation and effect change and to embrace new ways of working is essential, as is the academic and personal professional credibility to represent the School and Faculty in external contexts.
