Job description

Physician Associates (PA) are playing an increasing role in the expanding NHS work force. To facilitate this training need the UCLan School of Medicine has developed a series of PA PGDip and master's PA programmes. With increasing demand, there is a need for staff to assist in the delivery and development of these courses at our Westlakes Campus in West Cumbria.

The school therefore, wishes to appoint a Senior Lecturer to support the Academic Director in the development and delivery of the PG Diploma, and master's, in PA studies. The post holder will take a lead in the delivery and evaluation of a range of modules, ensuring a blended-learning approach to meet the needs of PAs in the NHS.

You will have a PGDip or equivalent in Physician Associate Studies, a master's or PhD in a related subject and be included on the UK Managed Voluntary Register of Physician Associates.

Experience with teaching Medical undergraduates and/or Physicians Associates is a requirement. You will also need to be familiar with the organisation, planning and delivery of medical educational programmes in a clinical educational environment, up to Masters level. You must possess excellent communication and presentation skills and have strong planning and team management abilities.

Should the applicant wish to undertake clinical work in addition to this role, then the University can assist in connecting with NHS employers locally.

Informal enquiries are welcomed - please contact Peter Driscoll, Academic Director of the PA Programme, via email in the first instance
