Working as part of a large consortia entitled “MS_SPIDOC” Mass Spectrometry for Single Particle Imaging of Dipole Oriented protein Complexes and funded by the EU Horizon 2020 program as part of FET-OPEN Research and Innovation Action, you will work to develop a mass spectrometry prototype that will be located at European XFEL to mass and conformationally select isolated biomolecules, to subsequently allow single particle x-ray analysis. Based at Manchester University with frequent interactions with the project partners, you will further the use of ion mobility to provide conformational separation for the MS-SPIDOC platform, and on complementary measurements on a novel Photon-IM-MS instrument located at the University of Manchester.
