About the position
This is an outstanding opportunity for a highly qualified practitioner and academic to join the Faculty of Society & Design and the Abedian School of Architecture at an exciting time of growth and development. The School aims to be recognised both nationally and internationally as a Centre of Excellence for Architectural teaching, learning and research.
As a member of academic staff within the Abedian School of Architecture this position will be responsible for contributing to the highest quality teaching, research and service in the School and University at the undergraduate and postgraduate level, with particular emphasis on the design and making of architecture.
The incumbent will be expected to provide a tectonic, ecological and socio-cultural understanding of architectural design, both with regards traditional craft approaches to making architecture and in relation to the implementation of emergent technological innovation and digital fabrication. This understanding will be complemented by the development of intelligent and sustainable design, advanced fabrication, and well considered use of materials and detailing. The post will have an emphasis upon architecture that is determined according to, social, cultural and environmental conditions, particularly in relation to a coastal sub-tropical climate context.
You will be a collaborative member of the teaching and research team, support colleagues in their research and play an instrumental role in the development of a leading research culture at PhD level. The Faculty of Society & Design affords a rich multi-discipline environment, the successful candidate will be expected to embrace and participate in inter and cross-disciplinary working.
About the person:
The successful candidate will, ideally be an internationally experienced practitioner, academic and teacher, who can demonstrate a record of experience making architecture in practice, research and teaching at all levels of education, particularly within studio-based teaching.
Ideally you will possess an architecturally relevant PhD or equivalent professional standing with a willingness to undertake a PhD, together will significant teaching and professional experience in an accredited architecture program.
Candidates will have a clear passion for design and for student learning and shall use the opportunity to further develop a vibrant culture of design, discourse and exploration through pedagogical and research focused initiatives at Bond. Strong connections with the profession and industry will be highly regarded.

The commencing salary for this appointment is $112 778 pa plus superannuation. Salary packaging options may be available for eligible candidates.
