The University of Queensland (UQ) is one of Australia’s leading teaching and research universities, and ranks among the world’s top universities according to several key independent rankings. More than 52,000 current students study at UQ, which has won more national teaching awards than any other Australian university. UQ’s research has global impact, delivered by an interdisciplinary community of more than 1500 researchers across our six faculties, eight globally recognised research institutes and 100+ research centres.

The University Library aspires to be the pre-eminent academic library in Australia and amongst the top 50 university libraries globally. The Library is integral to learning, discovery and engagement at The University of Queensland. It provides access to quality scholarly information resources and quality client focused services and spaces to support teaching and research at the University. It is aligned strategically with the values, goals and vision of the University, and partners with UQ and the wider community to provide pathways to enrich learning and research.

This role represents an excellent opportunity to provide strategic and visionary leadership in a prestigious academic environment. The University Librarian leads a team of 220 staff and manages a $46 million budget. As the Library operates in an environment characterised by rapid and disruptive change, the new University Librarian will have an opportunity to innovate in the use of technology and further progress digital transformation.

The University is seeking applications from suitably qualified senior individuals with demonstrated experience in leading digital transformation, including learning and research data management and analytics. A track record of successfully leading institution level change, including the integration and automation of services is expected.
