Starting Salary Range: $14.00 – $19.25 commensurate with experience

Our research team is involved in health services research on depression. We are developing a model of depression care in which peer mentors and mental health professionals work together to deliver depression care services and improve the quality of life of minority older adults
The project, which is led by a geriatric psychiatrist, is seeking a Research Program Assistant II for full time or part-time employment. The position will start right away on a grant which is 1 year in duration.
- Aid in study recruitment, maintain participant database.
- Assist with office coordination, interact with participants by phone, and make appointments.
- Conduct patient assessments and telephone screenings.
- Aid in manuscript preparation, e.g. Literature search.
- Enter and maintain data using software such as Excel and develop forms and documents with word-processing software.
- Interact with and aid in presentations to community organizations regarding the project.
High School Diploma/GED. 2 years related experience.
Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Public Health or other related discipline preferred. Some related experience preferred. Some familiarity with community-based research preferred.
Special knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Personable and able to work well with older adults and those with mental illness. Strong work ethic, takes initiative but able to work effectively as a team member. Must have the ability to work comfortably in the community as well as in an academic research setting. Must demonstrate excellent communication skills. Must be flexible and have excellent organizational skills. Must have own transportation.
Technical qualifications or specialized certifications:
Good computer skills, familiar with Microsoft office including Excel.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.
The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
