Research Fellow (Enterprise Research Centre)
We have an opportunity for a post-doctoral researcher to work in the Enterprise Research Centre (ERC). The ERC is a collaborative research centre led by Aston and Warwick Business Schools with Imperial and Strathclyde Business Schools and Queen’s University School of Management as partner institutions. The ERC is co-funded by the ESRC, BEIS, Innovate UK, the British Business Bank and from January 2018, by the IPO.
The person appointed will work under the direct supervision of Professor Mark Hart but will be involved in a range of projects which form part of the ERC’s overall research programme and will focus on SME growth, business demography, productivity, entrepreneurial ambition and alternative sources of finance for growth. More details of the ERC and the research streams can be found in the Job Details and on the Centre website www.enterpriseresearch.ac.uk
You will be responsible for maintaining and using large-scale datasets, performing econometric estimation under the supervision of the project leaders, and co-authoring outputs arising from the research. You will also be involved in dissemination and networking activities of the Centre.
You will ideally have or be close to gaining a PhD in economics, econometrics or a closely related area. Knowledge of panel data econometrics is essential, as is a working knowledge of Stata. Experience of linking large firm-level databases is highly desirable and previous experience working in the ONS VML and/or UKDS is desirable as is an interest in the economics of small firm growth.
