Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering ( Materials & Tribology)
We are seeking high quality candidates to support the GBP 30m expansion of engineering provision at the University of Central Lancashire. Candidates should demonstrate enthusiasm for the subject of engineering, excellent communication skills and have experience of teaching in Higher Education along with a research or industrial background.
Successful candidates will have a BEng or MEng in Engineering (or equivalent in a similar subject) and a PhD in a specialist area of materials related to tribology or aspects of machine element design.
The role will involve engagement in teaching, research and knowledge transfer, particularly in areas related to mechanical engineering, the mechanical behaviour of materials related to engineering tribology and machine element design. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate effective teaching skills (including the capability to motivate and support students) and an ability to contribute to new course developments.
They will also be expected to engage in internationally competitive academic research in materials tribology / machine element design within the Jost Institute for Tribotechnology and/or support clients who are industrial partners of the Engineering Innovation Centre.
The successful applicant will have experience of working with CAD and FEA software packages.
