Head of Computing
Home to a team of 70 academics, 40 doctoral students and 1,500 UG and PG students, the Department of Computing has a vibrant research community, an excellent record of knowledge exchange activity and is a leader in degree apprenticeships.
Sheffield is reshaping itself. Proud of its reputation as a former heartland of steel production, the city retains its tradition for creativity and is now emerging as a hub for the digital industry - presenting opportunities for the department's staff, students and graduates. Your role will be to help take advantage of these opportunities.
As head of the department you'll utilise your strong external profile and networks to help the department maximise its potential. Outward facing, with a deep understanding of the higher education and digital landscapes, you’ll be dedicated to building connections and partnerships that put the department at the forefront of computing education and research.
We're also looking for someone with:
- The capability to provide effective academic leadership and people management.
- A commitment to excellence in student experience and a pioneering approach in innovation in learning and teaching.
- A significant personal academic profile.
Ideally you'll also have a PhD in a relevant field, although this isn't essential.
We particularly welcome applicants from underrepresented groups
For non-EU applicants, we may be able to offer a certificate of sponsorship for this job if required.
