At TU Dresden, Faculty of Linguistics, Literature, and Culture the Institute of English and American Studies is inviting applications for the position as

Chair (W2) of North American Literature

to be filled as soon as possible. The future holder of the chair shall represent American Studies in research and teaching, with a focus on North American literature, including its historical perspectives. The successful candidate needs to have specialized in at least one of the following research areas:

  • Literature and media change,
  • Visual culture,
  • Gender Studies,
  • Literary and cultural theory.

We prefer candidates with a Cultural Studies orientation who are familiar with interdisciplinary research contexts as well as with a track record in successful grant applications and experiences in international settings. The holder of the position will be expected to contribute to existing research networks and to provide impulses for new initiatives in the Research Priority Area “Culture and Societal Change.” We further expect a commitment to committee work and academic self-administration. Applicants must fulfil the employment qualification requirements of § 58 of the Act on the Autonomy of Institutions of Higher Education in the Free State of Saxony (Higher Education Act of the Free State of Saxony – SächsHSFG).
