Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology, to assist with the financial budgeting, monitoring, and reports for large scale research projects. Will monitor and prepare financial performance reports and ensure compliance with MIT policies and contractual obligations with the sponsor; prepare financial analysis and budget forecasts for principal investigators; assist in the preparation of annual budgets, financial closing, semi-annual progress reports and monthly expenditure reports; assist with the review, control, and monitoring of the use of funds for the research projects; prepare and process request for payments, journal vouchers, and travel vouchers; oversee high-risk transactions, unassigned travel, and swept credit card charges; provide administrative support to faculty and their research staff that includes procurement, proposal preparation, and personnel management; assist, with the creation and implementation of a financial reporting system; serve as a liaison to central MIT offices and Singapore-based staff; and perform related duties as requested.
REQUIRED: a bachelor’s degree in a related field; at least three years’ related experience in financial administration; proficiency with Excel and Word; ability to analyze financial data and provide a clear and concise written summary; initiative; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with changing deadlines and priorities and to remain focused despite frequent interruptions; willingness to learn new systems and software and keep up-to-date with sponsor and MIT accounting policies; ability to maintain confidentiality; meticulous attention to detail; and a strong service-oriented approach to work in a team environment. Familiarity with SAP or a similar accounting system preferred; as is knowledge of relational databases such as Cognos, Brio, and Kuali Coeus.
Must be able to attend and participate in early morning (7:00 A.M.) or late evening meetings (7:30 P.M.).
