An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Lecturer in Applied Social Sciences to join the School of Media, Culture and Society at the University of the West of Scotland. 

Working primarily in the subject area of Social Work, the post holder will have an undergraduate degree at Honours level in an appropriate Social Sciences/Social Work discipline and will be qualified to doctoral level.  A postgraduate qualification in education/learning and teaching and Higher Education Academy Fellowship are highly desirable as is knowledge/experience of the curriculum for the professional training of Social Workers. The successful candidate will play a central role in leading the Social Work Team and in delivering an excellent and research-based student experience. They will be engaged in the development of educational thinking, practice and research across substantive areas of work and in the areas of curriculum design, learning and teaching, and assessment. They will be knowledgeable in contemporary pedagogies, particularly in relation to co-creation and active learning, and be familiar with online learning environments and the principles of digital education. They will also be able to evidence positive practice in these areas. The successful candidate will produce and publish excellent research outputs commensurate with the stage of career and evidence an ability to attract independent research funding to support this work.
