The Department of Psychology, Sociology & Politics at Sheffield Hallam University is an exciting place to work. We are housed in the award winning Heart of the Campus building which provides an exciting and vibrant teaching and research environment for our staff. We have a long-standing record of academic excellence and success and we are committed to building on this record.

We are looking to recruit a researcher to help develop research across the Department as a whole but, in particular, in the fields of sociology, politics, social policy and social psychology. You will have expertise in one (or more) of the areas, and you will also be expected to support research across the Department as a whole and, therefore, may be involved in supporting research in fields outside of your core specialism.

You will be research active with both good relevant honours and master's degree. Ideally, you will already have a doctorate in a relevant subject area (or working towards) or equivalent research experience. This is an excellent opportunity for you to further develop your research skills and gain invaluable, practical research experience working with staff in a varied and dynamic research environment.

We particularly welcome applicants from underrepresented groups

For non EU applicants please be advised that due to a new minimum salary threshold of £30,000 per annum imposed by the UK Visas and Immigration we may not be able to offer a certificate of sponsorship for this job. The majority of our new employees normally start at the bottom the appropriate grade, although the chair of the appointment panel can recommend a higher starting salary taking into account things like relevant skills and experience.
