Music and Theater Art (MTA), to implement and manage priorities on behalf of the faculty and academic staff. Priorities include all facets of producing concerts and theater events; managing the department’s internal and external communications; working closely with the department head, administrative officer, faculty, and other academic staff to provide oversight of all performance ensembles and programs; managing multiple competing priorities and working collaboratively with MTA and MIT colleagues, including senior leadership; overseeing budgets for all performance ensembles; managing a team of three support staff; and serving as the principal manager of Killian Hall, MTA’s 150 seat rehearsal and performance space totaling approximately 500 occurrences annually.  

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: a bachelor’s degree (master's preferred); at least three years’ experience in the arts including supervisory and administration; relevant work experience in ensemble management, performing arts event production, budgeting, accounting, proposal writing, desktop publishing (Adobe Creative), communications, publicity, and press relations; first-hand experience as an artist in music or theater arts; experience managing facilities; a history of building collegiality within a program and positive relationships with all stakeholders; willingness to implement ideas that come from others and a record of leadership among staff and faculty; substantial knowledge of and experience with the logistical aspects of music and theater performance in a university setting; and copyediting skills. Seek an individual who can use artistic sensibility in overseeing MTA’s online presence and the production of materials.

Must be hands-on to support evening and weekend programs.
