Senior Officer, Economic Prosperity Community
to join an initiative aimed at developing and implementing real and lasting solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges.
Will design--in consultation with leadership and relevant stakeholders--Solve challenges; inform event program on technical aspects of economic prosperity pillar focus areas (e.g., inclusive innovation, inclusive cities, circular economy, future of work); recruit, manage, and retain private, public, nonprofit, and academic leaders to create a relevant community of excellence made of diverse, cross-sector, cross-geography leaders within the pillar; recruit and liaise with challenge judges, advisors, and MIT faculty on technical aspects of the pillar’s focus areas; broker partnerships between solvers and solve community leaders and create partnerships to advance the growth of selected solutions; support selected solvers through mentorship, incubation, and trainings; manage relations and correspondence with leaders, advisors, solvers, and other community members (e.g., invitation to events, logistics, invoicing, and connections to other leaders); work with team members on planning and executing events that bring together the community physically and virtually; promote new and existing challenges through targeted outreach to the best potential solvers; manage staff, volunteers, and consultants; and support the managing director as needed.
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in a relevant area; at least five years’ experience, including at least one managing relationships/partnerships with high-level stakeholders; strong technical background in the field(s) of economics, international development, or urban planning; highly-developed organizational skills; flexibility; and initiative. Must be able to work independently, anticipate needs, prioritize, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment. Experience in a social and/or environmental impact organization preferred.
