Brief Description

  • Since the Postdoctoral experience is transitional to becoming an independent researcher or faculty member, the Postdoctoral tries their best to acquire the varied skills necessary to advance their career with guidance from the advisor. These skills include, but are not limited to, the ability to present research plans and findings in a convincing style, both in oral and written modes of communication, the ability to understand research group management and supervision of others, the ability to establish contacts and network with colleagues pursuing a similar research agenda, the ability to organize and teach a class or a course if more inclined towards a teaching career.

Detailed Description

Operational Responsibilities

  • To work on the development of a new robot gripper system based on a new slipping detection method using dynamic camera for manufacturing applications. The candidate will be working on the following tasks
  • Research on slip detection in robot grasping and manipulation
  • Developing a new slipping detection method using the dynamic camera
  • Modeling and testing the developed method/algorithms for fine grasping and manipulation
  • Modularizing the new developed method to be integrated into robot grippers
  • Propose control for using the developed robot gripper system in the automatic manufacturing applications.
  • Conduct experiments and demo to validate proposed methods
  • Publish high-quality journal and international conference papers based on the obtained research results

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • PhD or equivalent doctorate (e.g. ScD, MD, DVM)

Required Experience

  • In-depth experience with dynamic vision, point cloud data processing, machine learning, deep learning, sensing, and programming.
  • Good experience with mechatronics, system integration, modeling and control of robot grasping and manipulation.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, strong publication records.
