Animal Technician, BUMC Lab Animal Science Center
The Animal Technician II will provide exceptional animal care for all multiple species of research animals while maintaining and providing proper sanitization of all animal equipment, research facility and materials. The incumbent will strictly follow all institutional, local, state, and federal regulations, policies and procedures to assure proper animal health and welfare is provided for animals. They are responsible for performance of basic animal husbandry for USDA/ regulated species consisting of nonhuman primate, swine, rabbit, chinchilla, guinea pig, hamster, other USDA species. Responsibilities also include performing basic animal care inclusive of Animal Biosafety Levels 1 &2 plus Chemical Containment Levels: CCL-1, CCL-2, CCL-3.
High school diploma or GED, 1-2 years experience, prefer AALAS ALAT (American Assoc for Laboratory Animal Science, Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician) certification
