About the opportunity 

The position has responsibility for coordination, risk monitoring and internal and external reporting of quality assurance activities across the University. The incumbent will develop and manage a coordinated University Quality Framework across faculties, portfolios and professional service units that enables the University to maintain the highest quality across all functional areas and maintain our registration as a higher education provider under the Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2015.

In consultation with key stakeholders the incumbent will be responsible for developing a clear overarching institutional view and approach to quality assurance. This will take place in the context of complex structural change at the University during which a coordinated approach to quality assurance will be critical.

The incumbent will be responsible for identifying best practice innovations in University quality assurance that can be considered for application or adaption at the University of Sydney. This position is the point of contact for the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency on matters relating to provider registration and compliance with the Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2015, and holds overarching responsibility for monitoring and external and internal reporting on compliance with these standards.

Other internal and external quality reporting will also be the responsibility of this position, as required. The position represents the University on external quality networks and to government and other agencies as designated by the University’s senior executive.

  • a clear understanding of potential quality and compliance priorities
  • demonstrated superior verbal and written communication skills
  • the ability to gain large body of knowledge around policies and procedures
  • an ability to quickly understand large structural changes and strategic plans for complex institutions
  • the capacity to implement effective, efficient and innovative best-practice solutions
  • a tertiary qualification is essential where a senior level administrative experience in a tertiary organisation is highly preferable.
