The UTS Governance Support Unit (GSU) is looking for an individual who is personable, professional and would thrive in a fast paced environment with a busy and varied workload.

Detailed Description          

The position provides a great opportunity where you can apply your strong communication and organisational skills within a supportive team responsible for facilitating the University’s key strategic decision-making.

In this role you will be involved in providing administrative and strategic support for the University’s peak Committees. You will also have the opportunity to develop your skills in a range of areas which might include the investigation of student misconduct cases and conduct of elections.

Your previous experience will enable you to provide governance advice and support for Boards/Committees. Success in this role will require strong interpersonal skills, an eye for detail and excellent time management skills.

Previous experience in the University Sector is an advantage, but not essential.

Main duties/responsibilities:

  • Lead the effective operation of the governance bodies of the University including administrative and strategic support for Council, Academic Board or their Committees.
  • Provide expert advice to the wider university community on governance matters and committee processes.
  • Assist in the review and implementation of UTS policies.
  • Undertake special projects and research tasks.
  • As assigned, conduct University Elections or assist in the Student Misconduct and Appeals processes.
  • Implement and participate in staff development workshops to be offered to the wider university community.


Base Salary Range: $79,217 to $96,701 pa (HEW 6/7)

Level of appointment will be commensurate with experience

The role attracts 9.5% superannuation in addition to the base salary. Employee benefits include flexible work practices, child care centres, generous parental leave and salary packaging opportunities.

This appointment will be on a full-time basis for a fixed term period of 6 months.
