Department of Media Studies
Lecturer/Assistant Lecturer in Digital Media
(Permanent)

The Department of Media Studies is a vibrant, growing department, currently comprised of 8.5 academic staff. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees based on its research strengths in both digital and AV media in a dynamic learning environment. It delivers a BA in Media Studies, combining digital and AV creative practice with critical media theory. The department also offers an MA in Critical and Creative Media which continues this dual focus. The department is very research active, with specialisms in digital arts; gender in media; creative industries; media and cultural history; and media discourse. We have research links with the Maynooth University Social Sciences Institute and the Arts and Humanities Research Institute.

The Role 

We are seeking an excellent academic to join our staff as a Lecturer in Digital Media, with a specialism in digital media practice, ideally in the areas of VR, 3D and/or animation. The person appointed will have a proven record of teaching, research and publication, appropriate to career stage. He/she will be expected to make a strong contribution to the teaching programme of the Department and undertake teaching duties on the Department’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes as well as the supervision of Master’s and PhD students. 

The appointee will be expected to build a strong research profile, that supports the University’s research strategy including affiliating to the Research Institutes, where appropriate and working with colleagues on national and international research. The appointee will be expected to sustain and conduct research, engage in scholarship of quality and substance and generate publications of international standard.
