Position Summary:

The incumbent will support a component of an NHMRC-funded Centres of Research Excellence project entitled “Diabetic retinopathy – closing the loop for diabetic eye care and complication risk mitigation”. The project, which is based in Alice Springs, seeks to implement and evaluate, in an indigenous Australian setting, an open-source remote-access IT solution to improve eye care and outcomes, adaptable to national and international locations. The incumbent will work closely with Ophthalmology, Eye and Vision research staff at Flinders University and liaise with the University of Sydney NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre staff as required.

The incumbent will receive general to broad direction from her/his supervisor and, in the main, will determine her/his own priorities and work plans consistent with the objectives of the work unit. The incumbent is also expected to operate within a framework of established policies and work systems. Both specific and broad outcomes are reviewed. 

Please note: Northern Territory Government legislation (the Care and Protection of Children Act 2007) now requires all individuals in child related employment or whose duties involve, or are likely to involve, contact with a child, to hold a valid ‘Working with Children Clearance’ (Ochre Card). This position involves child related work and is assessed as requiring a Working with Children Clearance/Ochre Card.
