St Mary’s University is creating an innovative Employability Service which will bring together a number initiatives including the University Careers Service and the Centre for Workplace Learning. This strategic service will help our students to pursue graduate level career options and to make sound decisions for their futures.

We are seeking an experienced leader to establish the new Employability Services department. You will ensure employability is embedded throughout the curriculum and the student experience, maximising the progression to graduate level jobs and further study by St Mary’s University students. 

You will be supported through the partnership with The Careers Group which provides professional Careers Consultants and membership of AGCAS as well as professional advice and access to relevant networks.

You will bring first class internal and external networking capability to develop partnerships both with our academic faculties and external contacts within a variety of sectors. Designing communication strategies to ensure the successful delivery of the new department’s objectives will be essential and you’ll have a rare opportunity to formulate and deliver the  University’s Employability Strategy and action plan. 

Alongside extensive understanding of graduate employability, the graduate labour market and the needs of employers, you will have specific experience in, and understanding of, innovative pedagogy, curriculum development and quality assurance requirements in learning and teaching.

You’ll be leading a team and working with a variety of stakeholders so an ability to motivate, engage and influence will be indispensable. The post holder must be willing to travel and to work evenings and weekends as required.
