The University now seeks an experienced, visionary leader for the post of Head of the School of Humanities. Reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, this role provides an exciting opportunity to reshape, build and grow a first-class School of Humanities, and ensure the highest standards of excellence in all areas of its activity whilst contributing to the wider leadership of the University. The range and breadth of the School is considerable, and the new Head will be required to drive forward the School’s strategic agenda for research and education, and to work collaboratively with other Heads of Schools and Heads of Professional Services in keeping with the University Strategy 2016-2021, Practical Wisdom.
Successful candidates will be able to lead across a broad subject area and contribute to the strategic and operational development of the University, including effective change management and leadership expertise. They will have the academic credibility and interpersonal skills required to motivate academic and professional services colleagues, and demonstrate a collaborative approach and strong negotiation skills. With a track record of working with external partners, they will likewise be able to build credibility externally and represent the School to a range of stakeholders.
