Mater Research Institute – University of Queensland (MRI-UQ) is an alliance between Mater Health Services and the University of Queensland aimed at making the discoveries that will deliver improved health outcomes to the world. MRI-UQ’s 250+ researchers are based at state of the art facilities at the new Translational Research Institute at Woolloongabba (tri.edu.au), and the clinical settings at the Mater Hospitals Campus at nearby South Brisbane (mater.org.au).
A key distinguishing feature of our research landscape is its multidisciplinary focus marrying the expertise of clinical and research teams. An exemplar is the Cancer Biology & Management Program (research.mater.org.au/Research/Improving- Treatment-of-Disease/Cancer-Biology-and-Management.aspx) which is looking to recruit scientifically and medically trained candidates into its PhD and Honours training program.
The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will be responsible for the autism research within the institute. The successful applicant will have access to start-up resources and some ongoing support, and will be encouraged to apply for his/her own funding for autism research. There are opportunities to work with large population-based data sets and to be part of research teams, to address individually-developed and collaboratively-generated research questions, and to supervise honours, masters and doctoral students.
Applicants should possess a PhD (or close to completion) in the area of Health Science or a relevant discipline. The applicant should have a strong desire to develop a successful and highly-productive research career in health behaviour, good general research skills, a strong methodological background, excellent statistical and analytic skills, and the capacity to work with multidisciplinary research teams. Applicants will also have demonstrated the ability to bring research to publication, excellent organisational and time management skills as well as a high level of written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.

This role is a full-time position; however flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
This is a full-time (though flexible working arrangements may be negotiated), fixed term appointment at Research Academic level A. The remuneration package will be in the range $ 64,533.50 - $ 87,535.13 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $75,504.20 - $102,416.10 p.a.).
