About the role

The School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences focuses on applied research and professional education, enriched by the professional knowledge of its staff, state-of-the-art facilities, and strong partnerships with industry, community, and professional bodies.

An international leader in paediatric bone biology research, the Bone Growth and Repair Research Group (BGRRG) explores the mechanisms and regulation of growths plate/bone injury repair and cancer chemotherapy-induced bone loss. The Group’s research is aimed at understanding the underlying pathobiology and developing biological treatments.

As the Research Associate you will contribute to grant-funded research under the broad direction of the Head of the Bone Growth and Repair Research Group in order to achieve defined objectives and test stated hypotheses. The project involves examining mechanisms of bone marrow sinusoid endothelial damage and recovery following cancer chemotherapy.

Skills and Experience

To be eligible, you will have a postgraduate qualification in biomedical research along with experience and expertise in bone and bone marrow biology, experimental oncology, histology, immunohistochemistry, micro-CT analysis, and image analysis with mouse rodent models. You will also have high competence in recording, analysing, presenting and disseminating research to stakeholders including the preparation of papers for high quality publications or posters for conference presentations.
