The Henry Royce Institute is the UK’s national centre for advanced materials research and innovation. Located in a brand new hub facility at the University of Manchester, the Royce includes a network of founding university and industry partners: Sheffield, Leeds, Liverpool, Cambridge, Oxford, Imperial College London, UKAEA and NNL. The Royce will ensure the UK remains at the forefront of materials research through world-leading collaborations with academia and industry, and through providing access to state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. With its research organised into nine key themes, the Royce will further the UK’s global position in advanced materials by reducing the timescales from discovery to application and by driving the growth of UK manufacturing.

The Royce is now seeking an outstanding Chief Executive to lead the next phase of its development. Accountable to the Governing Board and its Chair, The Baroness Brown of Cambridge, the Chief Executive will have an international profile in areas associated with advanced materials. S/he must be an outstanding leader, ambassador and advocate, with a proven track record of successful engagement with industry, government and academia. The ability to build productive, sustainable relationships with a broad range of academic and industry partners, and to secure future income from multiple sources, is essential.
