The Faculty of Social Sciences
The Faculty of Social Sciences aims to become a leading centre with distinct features for nurturing high-calibre graduates and for excellent academic research in social sciences. The Faculty offers high-quality undergraduate and post-graduate (Master and PhD) programmes in Communication, Economics, Government and Public Administration, History, Psychology and Sociology, with 3 affiliated centres, namely Centre for Chinese History and Culture, Institute of Global and Public Affairs and Social Science Research Center on Contemporary China. The Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences
The successful candidate should have considerable leadership experience in faculty management, academic strategic planning, curriculum design, laboratory setup and research development, and must be highly committed to the pursuit of excellence in teaching, research and service.
In particular, the candidate should have the following credentials:
1. A PhD degree in any discipline of Social Sciences;
2. A distinguished record of internationally-recognized research and scholarship;
3. Evidence of outstanding academic leadership, demonstrated commitment to leading research and a record of effective teaching in higher education sectors;
4. Demonstrable competence in management and communication;
5. Active involvement in local community service;
6. Proficiency in English is required as it is the working language, while knowledge in Chinese/Portuguese will be an advantage.
Position and Remuneration
Remuneration offered will be competitive and commensurate with the successful candidate’s academic qualification, current position and professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
