About the role

The School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences focuses on applied research and professional education, enriched by the professional knowledge of its staff, state-of-the-art facilities, and strong partnerships with industry, community, and professional bodies.

An international leader in pregnancy and fetal-development research, the Early Origins of Adult Health Research Group (EOAHRG) is involved in a variety of projects looking at how events before birth have an impact on health later in life with funding from agencies such as NHMRC, ARC and CIHR.

As the Research Assistant you will contribute to research under the broad direction of the Professor and Head: Early Origins of Adult Health Research Group. Broadly, the research aims to understand the impact of changes in fetal growth trajectory on risk for disease and to modify these risks through early life interventions. The main focuses are around cardiometcbolic health undertaken with a systems physiology approach studying multiple outcomes. 

Skills and Experience

To be eligible, you will have an Honours degree in fetal physiology or a related discipline along with demonstrated experience with animal and molecular work (real-time PCR, Western blotting, ChIP, immunohistochemistry, hormone assays, DNA studies). You will also have high competence in recording, analysing, presenting and disseminating research to stakeholders including the preparation of papers for high quality publications or posters for conference presentations.
