This is a key post that will contribute to the ambitions of the University's new Strategic Plan 2017/18 - 2022/23. The Cardiff School of Art & Design seeks to appoint an exceptional person with teaching and research interests in fashion design who can make an effective and sustained contribution to the intellectual and creative life of the School. The lecturer would be part of the Fashion Design team, and we are specifically looking for candidates with knowledge of, and experience of working in the fashion industry.

It is essential that candidates have knowledge of designing and producing commercially viable collections for manufacture and production. Current industry expertise in creating and developing innovative collections through the design process from concept to silhouette and pattern development is desirable, but not essential.

The appointee would also be contributing to cross-disciplinary projects in research, enterprise and teaching and would be expected to contribute to the research and scholarship environment of the School and the University in the expertise area of fashion design.

Experience of teaching and research (or equivalent) is essential, as is experience of attracting or generating funds/income through a variety of sources.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The UK Visas and Immigration department requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.
