Assistant Lecturer, Faculty of Architecture
Assistant Lecturer (holding the title of Fabrication Laboratory Manager) in the Faculty of Architecture (Ref.: 201801010) (to commence on August 1, 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 10 % of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal)
Applicants should possess a Master's degree in a design-based discipline, and instructional experience in material technologies in practice or education. They should be proficient in the use of computer-controlled fabrication machinery including laser cutters, CNC milling machine, 3D printers, and have experience in using and managing traditional wood/metal workshop machinery and power tools.
The appointee will be responsible for the maintenance, safety and operation of all traditional and digital fabrication equipment in the Laboratory; providing technical, logistical and pedagogical support to teachers, students and researchers; providing safety, orientation and skill-based courses for students; performing research-based duties such as writing grant proposal and applying for funding for new equipment and initiatives; providing support for the future planning and development of the Laboratory; management of technical staff; and other duties as assigned. He/She will be expected to work collaboratively with teachers, supporting staff, and students; and undertake shift duties from afternoons to evenings, and on certain weekends, as required to suit the course schedule of students.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
