LSHTM research income grew to over £120 million in 2016/17 from a range of funders including the Wellcome Trust and the Gates Foundation. LSHTM now seeks a new Director of Development to advance its philanthropic relationships, as philanthropy has the opportunity to become integral to LSHTM’s strategic vision by enhancing its impact in addressing health inequalities and challenges. LSHTM seeks to grow its development function and further embed philanthropy into the wider School community. Working closely with the Director, Peter Piot, senior academic leaders and key stakeholders, the Director of Development will be responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership of the School’s development activities and will be expected to deliver on a strategy to significantly enhance the LSHTM’s engagement with supporters, donors and partners and increase philanthropic income.

Applicants will be passionate about LSHTM’s mission and will bring a successful track record of building effective, long-term, high-value philanthropic relationships together with evident major gift fundraising and leadership experience.

Applicants will hold a minimum of a second class honours degree and will preferably have a relevant postgraduate qualification. Applicants will have experience of developing and implementing an integrated and diverse fundraising strategy, including the setting of strategic objectives and targets. Applicants will have proven successful experience of creative fundraising from a variety of sources, including senior involvement in a successful major campaign. The Director of Development post is full-time, permanent and will be based at Keppel Street, London. The salary for this post is up to £110,000 dependent on experience.
