The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences is looking for a highly experienced individual with excellent technical expertise to join the Electrical Power Engineering team. For the last decade, the Power Engineering team at Aston University have been focused on the delivery of work-based degrees in collaboration with a number of major employers in the UK power sector. Our present portfolio of clients include National Grid, SSE and Western Power Distribution. You will also be expected to support traditional undergraduate and post-graduate programmes within the Department of Electrical, Electronic & Power Engineering and to contribute to the increasingly important area of degree apprenticeships. You will have the opportunity to support the Head of Department and the Director of Professional Engineering in developing new business opportunities. There will be extensive liaison with employers both nationally and internationally and you will be expected to demonstrate excellent communication, influencing and persuading skills as well as having significant experience of working within the Electrical Power Engineering sector. Experience of supporting work-based educational programmes and mentoring technical colleagues would be desirable, as would particular expertise in the application of power electronics to high-voltage systems.

You should have a good Bachelors or Masters degree in a relevant subject or equivalent relevant professional qualification and a recognised postgraduate teaching qualification (or a willingness to attain such a qualification whilst in post). The successful candidate will join a vibrant and expanding Electrical Power Engineering team and enjoy a challenging and diverse job role, with excellent opportunities for self-development.
