  • Fixed term, part time appointment (2 years, 0.70 FTE)

The Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences is a research intensive Faculty with extensive teaching operations in Australia, Asia and the Middle East. It has approx. 5000 undergraduate & postgraduate students onshore and offshore, and approximately 353 academic/research/professional staff. The School of Mechanical, Materials, Mechatronic and Biomedical Engineering, which is one of the top 10 Engineering Schools in Australia, is committed to research and teaching excellence through its world-class undergraduate and postgraduate programs in a range of exciting technological areas.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of several external research projects, including consultancies and contract research projects with international collaborations within the steel industries. The responsibilities include conducting research on solidification and high-temperature phase transformations utilizing high-temperature metallographic techniques, development of new experimental techniques, defect identification of industrially produced steel and characterization of defects and microstructural development using optical, electron-scanning and transmission electron microscopy.
