The School of Design comprises the disciplines of Industrial Design, Digital Design (including animation, games and interactive design) and Communication Design. The school builds on RMIT's leading national and international reputation in design education by creating a specific focus on emerging areas such as UX and service design, design strategy and virtual and augmented reality. The school comprises over 80 staff and 2,000 EFT undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The Role and Your Responsibilities

The Administration Officer, Operations role has a strong customer services orientation and will be responsible for the provision of high quality, confidential administration services to support a range of activities associated with the Schools' operations.

Specifically, the role is responsible for services to support the engagement of casual and sessional staff for the Schools of Media & Communication and Design. Through effective liaison with the Schools' staff, RMIT Human Resources and Financial Services, the Administration Officer, Operations ensures timely delivery of services across the two Schools and compliance with policies and procedures. This role will ensure that casual and sessional staff are set up effectively in systems, monitor activity reports, and support team members with logistics associated with casual engagement operations, including local induction and on-boarding processes and liaison across Professional services to trigger resources and system access arrangements.

Skills & Experience Required

Applicants must have well-developed administration skills including the ability to plan, prioritise, monitor, and evaluate workload to meet the needs and demands of a busy and complex and changing environment. You will have high level interpersonal and customer service skills demonstrating the ability to be professional, tactful, diplomatic and courteous at all times; analytical and problem-solving skills; demonstrated high level of computer literacy and demonstrated resilience and an ability to develop and implement practical and workable solutions whilst working to tight deadlines. You will have a proven ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with sensitive and difficult matters in a diplomatic manner.


Degree or Diploma qualification in a relevant discipline and/or an equivalent combination of knowledge, experience and education/ training.
