The Faculty of Arts, Computing, Engineering and Sciences is seeking to appoint a Printmaking Technician to our existing team. The team’s main activity is to provide high quality technical support to students and staff using the printmaking facilities and workshops in Sheffield Institute of Art and Design
You will support the running of the printmaking workshop and provide technical expertise across a range of printmaking and print output related processes.
You will lead or assist with the setup, preparation and delivery of induction sessions and demonstrate the use of equipment and facilities. You should have experience of a range of printmaking equipment and techniques such as screen printing, block printing, etching techniques, and be familiar with the use of autographic and digital positives.
The post requires a good understanding of Photoshop and Illustrator and experience with CAD software for creating, manipulating and outputting design files where printmaking is part of the workflow.
You will be expected to have excellent planning and organisation skills and bring your creativity and initiative to the realisation of often imaginative and sometimes unusual work.
Working in a busy area with many workflows taking place at once, you will need excellent communication skills and should be able to demonstrate the ability to deal with conflicting demands and deadlines.
Together with the team you will have a responsibility for implementing local health and safety procedures and policy and delivering health and safety training to staff and students.
