PROFESSOR OF AGRICULTURE

The Royal Agricultural University is making a key Professorial appointment that will play a central role in the continued development of the University’s academic profile. The Professor of Agriculture will be a senior leader in a core academic discipline of the University, with a background in soil, animal, plant, crop science or a related area. The appointee will play a leading role in the research, knowledge exchange and external partnership activities of the institution.

The Royal Agricultural University (RAU) is going through a period of exciting and dynamic change. At the forefront of agricultural education since its foundation as the Royal Agricultural College in 1845, the University now has some 1,200 undergraduate students from over 45 different countries studying at its historic campus, set in 25 acres of magnificent grounds in the heart of the Cotswolds. A full University since 2013, the RAU is an acknowledged leader in education and applied research relevant to the land-based industries notably agriculture; rural land management; property and the built environment; the food supply chain; agribusiness; countryside and environmental management and equine management and science. It has developed some major initiatives focused on its contribution to industry and knowledge exchange, including a growth hub and a rural innovation centre.

Applicants should be a proven academic leader in their field, with a strong track record of knowledge exchange, research and programme delivery and with outstanding team working skills and a commitment to mentoring and developing others. A strong track record of delivering in partnership with external stakeholders, including government and industry will be key. The ideal appointee will embrace the broader academic leadership possibilities offered through a Chair role at RAU.
