The Faculty of Modern Languages and Literatures at Goethe University Frankfurt’s Institute for English and American Studies welcomes applications for the following full-time position:

Professorship (W3) for English Literature

The successful candidate is expected to cover the field of English Literature in both teaching and research. We are looking for a person with a research profile in at least two periods of English literary history (from 1500 to the present). She/he should be an expert in literary theory, bring experience in interdisciplinary collaboration, and have explored new approaches to connecting literary and cultural studies.

She/he is expected to strengthen interdisciplinary connections, especially with the other literature departments of the faculty, and participate in both teacher training and BA/MA curricula, as well as in university committees. Candidates should have PhD as well as ‘habilitation’ or its equivalent (second monograph).

The professorship is also involved in teacher training; experience and concepts for teaching subject content in schools are welcome.

The designated salary for the position is based on ‘W3’ on the German university scale or equivalent.
