Bristol Biobank Manager
The Bristol Biobank opened in autumn 2015 and is a multi-disciplinary, co-ordinated bio-repository for human tissue samples. The Biobank enables the collection, expert processing and optimised storage of samples both from patients and healthy controls. It offers novel and exciting opportunities for experimental and translational research that will ultimately benefit patients and strengthen interdisciplinary links between specialists studying the same complex diseases providing a key platform for the local, national and international research community
You will be responsible for the running of the Bristol Biobank. You will manage Biobank staff, the administration and co-ordination of sample donations and play a key role in the Biobank’s governance. The manager will support the Designated Individual (DI) for the Biobank ensuring compliance with the Human Tissue Act (HT Act) and serving as Person Designate (PD) for the Human Tissue Authority (HTA) license.
Ideally you should have experience of managing biobanks and / or tissue holdings or working with a large number of biological samples, with an awareness of related quality control procedures. A good knowledge of the Human Tissue Act 2004 and relevant codes of practice is preferable, as are proven project management skills.
