Head coaches / assistant coaches / supporting coaches are required to represent and support Cardiff Met F.C. Academy (ageing from u9 – u16) in the delivery of high quality training and match fixtures. This includes attendance at training (twice per week) and all fixtures (home and away). The post holder will act as a conduit between academy director, parents and players.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Following and aligning to Cardiff Met Football Club's coaching philosophy the post holder will be required to:

  • Set high standards of professionalism and demonstrate a high standard of conduct to provide a good role model for young players
  • Ensure sessions are appropriately planned in accordance to the Academy syllabus and sent to Academy Director through Dropbox
  • Ensure registers of attendance are issued, maintained and collected for each session/fixture
  • Supervising the allocated group of players during training and match days, overseeing the safety of those involved
  • Ensure that all equipment is used, maintained and stored appropriately
  • Work alongside other coaches to complete and present player assessments
  • Promote the Academy and other Club functions at all times
  • Communicate with players, staff and parents appropriately
  • Follow and endorse the Academy ‘Code of Conduct’ policy
  • Assist in the everyday running of the Academy
  • Liaise with the Academy Director on a regular basis to develop the Academy
  • Update TeamApp with current fixture list.

Additional Information:

Coaches must complete the signing in sheets which will act as our record of hours worked. The Sports Development Manager and the Academy director will determine working hours.Coaches must be committed to the delivery of allocated sessions. The usual training week will be:

Training Times:

U10:     Monday 4:30-5:30 & Wednesday 6:00-7:00
U11:     Monday 4:30-5:30 & Wednesday 6:00-7:00
U12:     Monday 4:30-5:30 & Wednesday 7:00-8:00
U13:     Monday 7:00-8:00 & Wednesday 7:00-8:00
U14:     Monday 7:00-8:00 & Wednesday 8:00-9:00
U16:     Monday 8:00-9:00 & Wednesday 8:00-9:00

Goalkeeper specific training: Wednesday 6:00-7:00 (U10,11,12), 7:00-8:00 (U13,14,16)

Education & Qualifications (Essential)

  • Minimum FAW ‘C’ Certificate (Youth) qualification / UEFA Level two

Education & Qualifications (Desirable)

  • Working towards or willingness to work towards UEFA ‘B’ Licence
  • Working towards a recognised degree in sport

Knowledge (Essential)

  • Experience of working within a football environment           
  • Understanding of Child Protection policies

Knowledge (Desirable)

  • Understanding of Health & Safety legislation

Skills & Abilities (Essential)

  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure.
  • Ability to work as a team member alongside the organisation structures
  • Excellent initiative, preparation and planning

Skills & Abilities (Desirable)

    Competent IT User (Microsoft Office)
    Ability to compile and write reports


Experience Paid/Unpaid (Essential)

  • Experience of working within a football environment

Experience Paid/Unpaid (Desirable)

  • Experience of working within an elite / semi-professional football environment
  • Experience of working across a range of age groups and abilities
  • Experience of using sport science support e.g., Sportscode
