The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences is one of five faculties at the University of Adelaide. Comprised of five schools and a number of disciplines, research centres and institutes, the faculty is focused on education excellence and innovative research in the health sciences.

The faculty boasts one of the largest concentrations of leading researchers, academic teachers and clinical titleholders working across the areas of health.

The Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) which sits within the School of Public Health, is a complex, international research and development agency with over 40 staff in its headquarters in Adelaide and more than 1500 researchers located in collaborating centres in UK, Europe, USA, Canada, the Middle East, Africa, South East Asia, New Zealand and Australia.  With almost 80 Centres and groups, servicing over 90 countries, the Joanna Briggs Institute is a recognised global leader in evidence-based healthcare.

This position is to lead our systematic review workshops and methodology programs, and will involve significant methodological development work, research and teaching. This position will be expected to teach into our evidence implementation and other evidence-based healthcare courses. This position does not include undergraduate teaching or assignment marking. The position will also include some supervision of Masters and PhD students. In addition, there will be some involvement in software development to support evidence-based healthcare. There is a reasonable amount of national and international travel involved.

Salary: (Level A) $67,894 - $91,425 per annum.

Superannuation: An employer contribution of 9.5% applies.

Term of position: This fixed-term contract is from August 2018 to August 2019.

To be successful you should have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant area, and/or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in the preparation and delivery of lectures and workshops
  • Experience in teaching evidence-based healthcare, systematic reviews and/or research methods
  • High level interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to contribute to a diverse and collaborative team environment
  • Ability to undertake collaborative research relevant to healthcare
  • Experience in conducting systematic reviews
