The University of Hull is driven by a commitment to delivering excellent research and a fantastic student experience. The University has an international outlook and global reach, as well as playing a key place-based regional role. There continues to be significant investment in the single-site campus which enjoys a rich cultural offer. The University is committed to adapting its approach to meet the evolving needs of its students, regional, national and global collaborators, and external partners. Under the leadership of the new Vice-Chancellor, Professor Susan Lea, the University is entering a period of strategic change. To strengthen its leadership, and to lead new initiatives in line with this exciting strategy, the University now wishes to appoint a new Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education), who will be a full member of the University Leadership Team.
The Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) will lead the Education agenda and promote scholarship at the highest level. The appointee will be tasked with raising performance and achieving consistency of practice across undergraduate and postgraduate education at Hull. Priorities include enhancing the quality of taught degree programmes, as well as the capacity and capability to deliver an outstanding student experience. The post-holder will lead the development and delivery of new and existing University-wide initiatives related to learning, teaching, and co- and extra-curricular activity. An early priority will be the development of a new Education strategy for the University. The appointee will partner effectively with students and ensure an effective interface between research and education.
This role reports directly to the Vice-Chancellor. Candidates must bring a collegiate and enthusiastic approach to the role, and will make a significant and collaborative contribution to the University Leadership Team. This is an exceptional opportunity to build on the University’s significant areas of success and – critically - to fulfil its enormous potential.
The University of Hull is an equal opportunities employer and positively welcomes applications from candidates who are currently underrepresented at this level.
The closing date for applications is 27th July 2018.
