Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Ophthalmology
Applications are invited for appointment as Non-Tenure Track Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology, to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.
Applicants should possess a medical qualification registrable with the Medical Council of Hong Kong, and a higher professional qualification of specialty Fellowship of the relevant Hong Kong Colleges under the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine or equivalent. Clinical academics should demonstrate a strong interest in pursuing a career in academic medicine, the commitment to teaching, and the potential in performing research in their respective field(s). Those who have presented/published scientific papers in local/international conferences/publications would have an advantage. Direct communication with patients is required and the languages employed are English, Cantonese and Putonghua, although teaching activities are conducted in English. The appointee is expected to provide clinical service at the University’s affiliate teaching hospitals in Hong Kong; assist in the HKU-Shenzhen Hospital; undertake teaching duties; conduct high-quality scholarly research (both clinic- and laboratory-based); and assist in administrative duties in the Department, Faculty and University. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. A monthly cash allowance will be offered to the successful candidate. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
