CUHK Business School, a leading business school and a pioneer in business education in Hong Kong, now seeks to appoint a high calibre candidate to the position of Administrative Director (Global Engagement).

Since its establishment in Hong Kong in 1963, CUHK Business School has gained world recognition of nurturing business leaders with immense contributions in Asia Pacific. The School has been offering a comprehensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes (MBA, MSc, EMBA, MPhil, PhD) with over 4,600 students, as well as executive education.

As one of the pioneering business schools in Hong Kong and with a rich and long history in Hong Kong and mainland China, CUHK Business School has been striving to produce and promote research that is both academically excellent and applicable in the real world. The School aims to further enhance its global reach and platform for faculty to produce high-quality research, disseminate knowledge to various stakeholders, and to interact with the business community in discovering best market practices. This global platform will contribute to the School’s capacity in providing high quality education, building knowledge platform and establishing a closer strategic connection with external stakeholders.

Reporting to the Associate Dean (Global Engagement and External Relations), the Administrative Director is expected to:

(i)         work with academic units and programmes within the Business School to develop and execute its internationalisation vision and strategy;

(ii)         cultivate beneficial relationships with external stakeholders, including academic institutions, business community, professional bodies, governments, ranking agencies, etc.;

(iii)        identify opportunities for external organisations to engage with faculty, students and staff;

(iv)        engage in business development for new prospective partners;

(v)        liaise with supporters to maintain a long-lasting collaborative relationship;

(vi)        represent the School in external organisations and international conferences/forums; and

(vii)       support in the collection, analysis and reporting of internal and external data for institutional outcomes assessment and data reporting requirements.

The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills and attributes:

(a)        a Master’s degree plus a minimum of twelve years’ post-degree work experience in the education sector. Candidates with less experience may be considered for appointment as Functional Manager;

(b)        demonstrated experience in client management, business development, strategic planning and implementation;

(c)        outstanding network and relationship builder, capable to work with academics and professional community;

(d)        strategic thinker, self-motivated by setting objectives and targets, and ability to lead the implementation of detailed plans;

(e)        strong analytic skills, with experience in data collection and assessment, performing statistical analysis using a variety of standard statistical packages and tools;

(f)         superb presentation skills, excellent written and verbal communication in English, Cantonese and Putonghua;

(g)        ability to cultivate productive relationships; and

(h)        knowledge of higher education and business school practice worldwide is an advantage.

Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for two years initially commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to mutual agreement.
