The School of Chemical Engineering

The School of Chemical Engineering is located in the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology at UQ. The school is internationally recognised for its research excellence and hosts a number of first-class research groups. The role

Successful applicants will undertake a PhD under the supervision of Dr. Adrian Oehmen and Dr. Liu Ye at UQ’s Chemical Engineering Department, undertaking cutting edge research in enhanced biological phosphorus removal processes from wastewater. The project will involve both laboratory experiments, in particular bioreactor operation, and mathematical modelling.

The person

The applicant will have a Masters degree or Bachelor degree with 1st Class Honours (or equivalent) in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or equivalent, with skills and experience in wastewater treatment. Remuneration

The base stipend will be at the rate of AUD $27,082 per annum (2018 rate) tax-free for three years with the possibility of a six month extension in approved circumstances.

Mandatory requirements for applicants

  1. Excellent academic performance to Honours/Masters level, evidenced by a high Grade Point Average (GPA); and
  2. International applicants must meet the University of Queensland's English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirements, detailed at http://www.uq.edu.au/grad-school/english-language-proficiency-requirements

Desirable requirements for international applicants

At least 1 peer-reviewed research publication.
